day 6_ 9/10/08
Festivaleros: Myself

So, on.. er... Thursday? Was it thursday? Yeaah... I think so.
Anyway, that day I woke up a bit later, because I knew I wasn't going to be able to do it in some days, cleant my room, got a shower and ran to my folk's place, to have lunch with them and see Esther and Jordi, who I hadn't seen in a long time.

Then, I ran to Sitges ( I seem to be always running), because I left my ticket at home and had to ran to get to the train in time, and then I had to get to the cinema in time... Just to arrive there and discover the film was going to be a bit late.

The film in question was Tokyo!, a compilation of three stories around the city, each weirder than the previous one. It was a nice watching and a thrilling experience.

TRYING NOT TO SPOIL THE FILM FOR THE ONES INTERESTED )
All in all, a good film. One of the best of the festival, at least at a technical level.
I would recomend that one to nearly anyone who doesn't dislike a little weird on their films.

Also, before the film, they gave an honorary award to the woman who played Nova on THE PLANET OF THE APES. She was a beautiful (really beautiful) 61 year old woman and rather nice too. And his translator was one of the most profesional translators I've ever seen at Sitges. He translated her words one by one instead of inventing them.

Then I walked a bit, made rather beautiful pics and, finally, wnet to watch some amateur short films at the Brigdoon section. It was really funny and geekish. Afterwards, really late, I went home. I arrived just in time for watching CQC. It was a nice day,

Festivaleros: Myself, Mónica and David

I.. mmm... I'm not really sure what I did on friday morning... Oh, yes! I met mónica and had a coffee and some nice chat and bought some birthday presents. Then I got home, had lunch and watched SE LO QUE HICISTEIS and rushed to Sants.
There, I met Mónica again, and David, and we went to Sitges to watch 20 CENTURY BOYS.

The film, based on a manga by the same name, it's really, really nice. Perhaps it's not the best performed film of the year, and the direction is simple and classical, but it's a really good adaptation from the manga and the characters are so alike it's scary. The story is really interesting and as the climax approaches you have completely forgot about bad actors. All that matered was the stoy unfolding in front of you. Sadly, as the film was longer than we thought, we had to leave before it ended and we couldn't watch the giant robot, neither the big cliffhanger.

Then I had supper with some friends and went to sleep rather late.

Oh, it was also the day of the ZOMBIE WALK, but we had to queu and I got tosee very few of it.
it must have been great, though. And it was funny to see the zombies acting normal afterwards. Make up was really impresive.
day 8_ 11/10/08
Festivaleros: Myself, Mónica, David, Mar, Raúl, Olga and María

Wow. What a day.
I woke up early to go to sitges to watch PONYO ON THE CLIFF BY THE SEA, the last of Miyazaki's films. It's so sonderful and soothing to watch a film were everything is beautiful and everything is good and cute...

again, spoilers )

Afterwards, I bought my ticket to the Zombie Marathon (yes! I found tickets in the end!) and went home. I had lunch, slept a bit and, with Olga, María and Mar headed to Sitges again, this time to face the big end.

We had supper and some laughs, drank lots of caffeine and queued a bit so we could get some nice seats in teh thater. There were going to be seven hours on a row.

not only spoilers, but lotta films and shorts )

Then we got home and you know the rest already (or you can read a pair of entries back to find out).

It's been a great week in spite of everything and I enjoyed every minute of it.
And now I'm finally done explaining everything and once all teh pics had been posted in Picassa I'll be finally done ^_~

Today I've come back from sitges to barcelona at 9:00a.m. aprox.
I've been all night long in a cinema, watching zombie movies and having a general good time.

Sitges Festival is over. The awarded films have been:

the good, the bad and teh weird (best director)
Tale 52 (best script)
Survelliance (best movie)
Martyrs (best make up)

And some more that I don't know right know.

I know I still have to tell you how days 6, 7 and 8 went, and I'll do it. Perhaps later, perhaps tomorrow. But I just can't do it right now as I'm fighting not to fall asleep (I don't want to sleep all sunday long).

I've watched this week's heroes episode, some little britain sketches and know, after a shower, I'll go for a walk to avoid the sofa and the bed.

See you later.

day 5_ 8/10/08
Festivaleros: Myself (alone, again ^^)

Yesterday I had a film at 12:00, wich meant taking the train elarlier.
So I woke up relatively early, id a pair of chores, and went to Sitges to watch FORBIDDEN PLANET!!

Leslie Nilssen was just as bad an actor then than he is now. The bugger! How can one person be so terribly bad at acting and still make a living out of it?
Still, the film is great fun to watch and really interesting. Pure and real Sci-fi. You have everything in there: robots, flying saucepans, invisible foes, laser beams, superior and lost civilisation, a mad genious, a beautiful girl, a really manly hero and even a philosofical reading: We can beat everything but ourselves.
I loved this film when I was younger and I still love it and I'm really glad to have been able to watch it in a big screen for once.

Then I took yet another walk through Sitges (I never tire of it). I bought a book for my sis-in-law (it had been her birthday) and entered a musueum, hwere they were having a tiny exhibiton about image and cinema (from dioramas to Melies). I discovered a musical group called RETRIO, that has a beautiful piano sound and make beautiful piano versions of well known songs.

And finally stopped for a burger and a Guiness.
And there is where I meet the little fellow I'll show you yesterday.
De chiches08

He was so tiny and cute... He was hidden in the hole, and from time to time, he went out, looked around and then, at the slightest sound... Flop! Inside the tube again. We gave him some ham and cheese and a bit of water, poor thing, but he wouldn't let us come any close to him.
I know he'll get by. It's a cat, after all, and he is cute. People will feed him (or her, come to think of it), but, poor thing... It was so small...

Anyway, then I got home and, after some more chores, I met with Roser and Ferran to chat a bit, wich was as good as watching Forbidden planet.

day 3_ 6/10/08
Festivaleros: Myself (yup, I went alone!)

Yesterday I had just a film: KRABAT. I was really excited about that one, because it is based on a book I read years ago and I love:KRABAT AND THE SATANIC MILL.

So, I got there iwth tiem enough to have lunch and queu. But not much, because at 14:00 on a monday, there was not many people in there. Most of the people in the there seemed to have read the book when they were young (just like me), but there was also a high school class on a field trip and, I guess, some people that just belived what the Sitges organization said: this was the german Harry Potter. It's not true, of course. They have nothing to do. And even if I like Potter books a lot, this is way older. German are not trying to make a cool saga to ma,tch the english or anything like that.
But, as I said in earlier posts, Sitges organization is best to be left apart in most cases.
(As an example_learned by my awful habit of overhearing_, they give free sandwiches to their volunteers. It figures they have to get their tickets in the auditorium (the farthest cinema) and then, when it's lunch time, go for their sandwich. So far, so good. But they haven't told them they can also get their sandwiches in Palau Miramar (much closer to the rest of the cinemas). So, three days later, the volunteers discovered it bythemselves. Nice, uh?)

Anyway, let's review:

review under the cut )

All in all, a great film. I'm sure it will come to spanish theatres soon (this winter, perhaps, as we don't have a Potter one), but I'm glad to have gone yeaterday to Sitges to watch it.

Then, after the film, I tried to look for a place to have a snack and a coffee, but then realized I left my wallet in the cinema. I had to wait for the session to finish to enter again and look for it. All in all, I lost two hours wandering through the village and sitting in front of the cinema.
I draw a bit. I'll show you later. Now I'll have to rush to the gym if I want to do some aquagym.
No, today I have no film.

Yesterday we woke up later than on saturday, for our first film started at 15:00. I woke up at 9:30, more or less, and prepared a delicious english breakfast because I knew we couldn't have lunch before entering the theatre.

again, after the cut! )

Then we ran to the train and catch the last one on time.
Un thus ended my second day at Sitges film festival.

So...

After the cold shower that the cancelation of REPO represented, we headed to town. [info]mina_murray had to get her tickets for MONSTER X and we had time to see the exhibition at Palau Miramar (really nice, this year, with the SOLIDARY KING KONG drawings).

Then we had some lunch and, after a coffee, we went to watch: MOSNTER X STRICKES BACK!:
review under the cut )

All in all, that film really felt like being at Sitges Festival (well, the good part of being at Sitges Festival). A producer and a director happy and grateful for their film being screened and well liked. People laughing and enjoying themselves. Clapping and cheering afterwards...
It felt really good to be at the theater just then.

Then we got the train home, for everyone of us had an appointment or another.
I'll tell you about it later. And about yesterday!
Now I have to shower and head to sitges, to watch Krabat. I'm really excited about this one.

So, as promised, I'm going to begin my chronicle about the festival.

Day 1_4/10/08
"Festivaleros":
[info]mina_murray, Raúl(1), [info]cazarrabo, [info]monimusume, Raúl(2) and his brother (I have to ask for his name. I'm a horrible person!!)

And I have to leave it here, because I have to g to catcha train to watch more films. But I still have to tell you why japanese producers are cuter than american producers and talk about the great film that is MONSTER X STRICKES BACK!!!

De chiches08

A Japanese producer being cute.

On other news, I've decided I need to go more than teh odd sunday to the gym, so I'm going to go on tuesdays and thursdays (until my schedule is changed again at work and I'll have to find another aquagym timetable). Starting today. Yeah. I'm exhausted, but it's been good.

Also, I have all my tickets to Sitges cinema Festival minus teh Zombie Marathon, that was sold out.
sigh.
Anyway, I have tickets to: "Repo, the genetic Opera", "Monster X strikes back", "Ghosts vs Aliens", "Vinyan", "20century boys", "Forbidden Planet" (yes!!), "Krabat" and "Tokyo!"
I'm looking forward for next week already!!!
As with different discounts I'm spending way less than I expected, is more than posible that I try to go to some more films during the week, but we'll see.
