While at London I bought a book with some of Ambrose Bierce short stories. I had already read some long ago and found him to be one of the best writters of his particular genre (XIXth-early XXth paranormal writting), really close to Poe and Maupassant.
I hadn't read the following story, but after reading it I found myself quite impressed and i have dediced to shar it with all of you.
perhaps nowadays his writting and twists are not as impressive, because, well, we are used to authors everywhere palying with narration, time, space and cliffhangers. But back then, in 1890, I'm sure it was quite an inovation.
Sadly, most intelectuals consider fantastic/paranormal/gothic literature to be a subgenre and most writters are overlooked in literature classes.
Anyway, here you have, AN OCURRENCE AT OWL CREEK BRIDGE.
